The most irritating quirk though is that I find it really finicky about wanting to drop into a 1-wide hole and I'll end up hopping over multiple times before ending up in just the right spot to go down. I can see why some players would despise it and never want to use it. In survival it's something that I've adapted to but I could imagine this being a nightmare in PvP. Sometimes while fighting mobs on uneven terrain I'll inadvertently jump around and miss attacks. And on the opposite end of things, sometimes I'll jump when moving toward a wall because the block at eye level is open but it's pointless because the block above it is solid and there's no logical way I could jump into a 1-tall space.Īlso, there are situations where I specifically don't want to jump and I seem to turn into a frigging parkour ninja at the worst possible time. This can be fixed with crafting and placing stairs, but that's not always a priority or convenient to do. This makes the classic straight stairstep tunnel annoying since I still need to hammer the spacebar to climb up. Sometimes if I'm trying to go up a block, it doesn't always auto jump if there's a ladder or torch in the block where I'm moving to, or if I'm facing the block at or nearly perpendicular to its face. There are conditions where it seems like I should be able to jump but don't and others where jumping behaves recklessly. It's very useful for general navigation in survival, but it has some issues. But I have a love/hate relationship with it. When it was introduced I thought it was a long overdue feature, and one that I get a lot of use out of.
